For the last eight years, I have been
communicating with you by way of this Monthly Update. This will be my final
Update. On Tuesday, September, 25, I met with the Board of Directors and tendered my
resignation.
In answer to a number of your questions, I
was not forced out, let go, or was it even suggested that I should retire. It
was my own choice. I still had more than two years on my elected term as
President and CEO. However, I felt definitely led of the Lord that now was the
time. There were a number of reasons.
With God as my witness, I have given my
best to Frontier for the past eight years. There have been good times and bad
times, but through it all, God has been in charge and has had His hand on us. I
have always felt that I would know the right time to leave and I feel that time
is now. I feel that it is time for fresh leadership and a fresh approach.
Thank you for your support, from the bottom of my heart!
Then, I want to spend more time with my
wife, kids and grandkids. Eight years ago on my first day at the mission, I
called my wife and asked her to come and help me. Through much pain and a
number of surgeries, she has stood by my side and served until now, as office
manager. God has blessed us with four married children and eleven
grandchildren, of whom I am more than proud. They are all serving God and what
more could we ask for?
Finally, I was praying for God’s man to
take my place. More than two years ago, my phone rang and it was Rick
McPherson. He was pastoring a large church, but asked me if we needed big rig
drivers. Of course, I said yes. We had coffee and I told him it was not
coincidental that we were meeting. I felt God’s presence in the coffee shop
that day. Rick had successful cancer surgery after that meeting, but when he
was free of cancer, he called me and said that he was ready to go. He got his
CDL, and I asked him to preach the Lapwai Crusade that year. It was there that
Rick felt God say, “this is where I want you to be”. On September 25, I told
the board that I felt Rick was the man to take my place and they elected him
unanimously. At the end of the board meeting, I asked the members to gather
around and lay hands on Rick and pray that God would give him wisdom and
strength. I also assured them of my continued support, counsel and continued
presence on the radio during this transition time.
I love and appreciate you all more than I
can say. May God richly bless you!
