It’s hard to believe that there are hungry people who sleep on a plywood floor. Not in the USA! But last week we took an 18 wheeler loaded with groceries, mattresses and a pickup truck to the Fort Peck Reservation in Northeast Montana and delivered them all to a grateful pastor and his congregation in Wolf Point. The next morning, after delivery, a young husband and dad arrived at the church to pick up two single mattresses and a double mattress so that his children and wife would not have to sleep on the floor anymore. If that doesn’t move something in your heart, check your pulse for life! When I asked the pastor what is the most important thing we can do at Frontier Missions, he said: “Give us groceries!” I immediately thought of what Jesus said about feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting the jails, and helping the poor. Remember that? If Jesus said it, and He did, and we say that we love Him, then we need to obey what He asked us to do. He also said that if we love Him, we will obey Him. Let’s get started.
Not only are there great physical needs on the reservation, it is also a place of great spiritual needs. Great darkness, bondages, demonic activity and opposition are all a part of reservation life. Only Jesus has the answers to the dilemmas of these needy people. Only Jesus! So, when you pray, and I know you do, pray for us and the ministry of Frontier Missions, “working hand in hand with Indian people!”
Until the next time, keep on truckin’!
