Fix Your Thoughts PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 05 January 2007

…Had never thought of it this way before.  Paul, who wrote the letter to his friends said, “Fix your thoughts…”  Fix them?  Were they broken?  Didn’t they work anymore?  Busted?  I know there are lots of things that break that we have to fix.  Cars break, washing machines, computers, tools, furniture and baseball bats all break.  Some can be fixed and others are just thrown away, forever.

It’s not uncommon for my oldest grandson to come to me with a broken toy and say, “fix it, Pop!”  At that time, priority number one is for this Pop to indeed, fix it!  Maybe that’s the way it is with our Heavenly Father when we have broken lives, we can come to Him and ask Him to “fix it!”  Fix it?  Indeed He will, if we will but ask.

Then again, there are times when we need to do what God intends for us to do.  Or, if we will do what we  can do, He will do what only He can do.  I think that’s why Paul the writer said, “fix your thoughts.”  No one else can do your thinking for you, you must do it yourself.  Another writer said, “as a man thinks in his heart so is he.”

So if your thoughts are broken, start fixing them.  We’re all guilty of broken thoughts.  Negative, critical, jealous, untrue, wrong, dishonest, immoral and lousy thoughts can plague us.  I heard  it called, “stinkin’ thinkin’” !  How true!  Who wants to stink up the place with smelly thoughts?

Instead, “fix your thoughts” by including this group of a half-dozen winners.  You can fill your heart with these six and move from broken to fixed… “whatever is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely and admirable.”   Think about these things.  Think I’ll get started.

…Until next time, keep on truckin’!

Getting To The Point PDF Print E-mail

…Getting to the point is important in any conversation. Maybe you’ve been around people who tend to ramble and you wonder if there really is a “point” to what they’re saying. Hopefully that will not be the case when you read these articles.

…The intention is to give you a snap-shot of life here at Frontier Missions. You may have heard me say it on the radio and it’s true…you never know what’s going to happen here or who is going to walk through the door. Life is an adventure here at FMI.

…On a personal note we say good-bye to Lee J. During the recent winter storms with heavy winds and icy conditions Lee was badly injured with multiple broken bones and subsequent complications. She passed away after surgery. Please remember Earl J. who has been a faithful employee and ace fork-lift driver at FMI for many years. Your prayers are greatly appreciated.

…Not long ago at dinner Kenny A. was telling me about how Indian children and teens love sports. Basketball is the game of choice. They love it. He went on to say, if you do anything for Indian children and teen-agers, the parents will support it and love you for it.

Sounds like we should think about that as a primary way of reaching the children and youth on the reservations. A basketball, tee-shirt, sneakers and a new living translation of God’s Word would be a great combination, don’t you think?

…May your New Year be blessed! It could very well be that the Lord returns this year for His Church! Now, that would be “happy” indeed. In the meantime let’s plan to do His work as if we had another hundred years, but live and work like we only have today!

…H.G. Wells said, “The voice of our neighbors sounds louder in our ears than the voice of God!” Let’s be more concerned with what God says to us than what people say.

…Until next time…keep on truckin’!
